About the role of Assistant Operations Manager
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Assistant Operations Manager plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery, performance, and growth of regional operations. Acting as the deputy to the Operations Manager, you will assume leadership responsibilities in their absence, ensuring continuity across all operational, commercial, and people management activities.
This is a high-profile position within our business, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and business growth. You will support the development of both existing and new customer relationships, helping to drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and secure long-term business opportunities.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and regional teams, you will help lead and motivate a high-performing workforce, ensuring the delivery of a safe, efficient, and first-class service to our customers. You will be responsible for supporting employee development by ensuring teams have the appropriate training, skills, and resources needed to meet operational demands. This includes the effective communication of toolbox talks, safety alerts, procedural updates, and contract requirements.
Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with colleagues across the wider business to share best practice, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and implement solutions that enhance operational performance, customer outcomes, and profitability.
You will support the implementation of robust management procedures, controls, and performance measures to drive productivity and ensure operational and financial targets are achieved. This includes regular engagement with commercial and finance teams, reviewing cost and performance reports, and contributing to informed business decisions.
Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental, and ESG responsibilities are fundamental to the role. You will champion a positive safety culture across the depot, ensuring all activities are carried out in full compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safe systems of work. You will support the delivery of ESG initiatives and promote continuous improvement across all aspects of operational performance.

An accomplished Traffic Management professional with extensive industry experience and a strong background in operational leadership. Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, optimise resource utilisation, and deliver safe, efficient, and commercially successful operations. Recognised for building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues, creating a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Skilled in identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, improve service delivery, and increase profitability while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking, contributing to depot growth, business development, and long-term operational success.
